Are You Licensed, Insured, and legit?
Absolutely. At Timmy Hayes Moving, we are fully licensed and insured to operate across ALL of South Carolina. We know how much of a relief it is to trust your stuff with someone who takes safety seriously. Timmy Hayes Moving is covered, so YOU'RE COVERED!
How much will my move cost?
It depends on a few things — like how much you have, how far we're going, and what services you need (packing, specialty items, disassembly, etc.). Timmy Hayes Moving offers free, no-surprise estimates throughout South Carolina. We will break down every cost so you know exactly what you're paying for BEFORE you pay it. Want to move just a few pieces? We can do hourly. Need the full package? We’ve got that, too. Whatever your move, we won’t keep you guessing on the price.
When should I start planning my move?
The sooner, the better, but three weeks ahead is a solid rule of thumb. That gives you time to sort your stuff, get quotes in, and plan around any quirks or delays. If you can book earlier, especially during holiday/busy seasons, great! But no stress — we’ll work around YOUR schedule.
What can I do on my end to make moving day go smoother (and faster)?
You already doing this by asking, so, thanks for that! Here’s how you can help:
- Box up anything loose well ahead of time (books, decorations, knick-knacks)
- Label your boxes or group them by room
- Clear pathways and keep floors free of obstacles
- Have small or fragile items ready to go separately
- Make sure pets or kids are in a safe spot so our crew can move unhindered
Just little steps like these can shave off time and reduce stress.
Do I have to tip the movers?
Totally optional! Tips are very appreciated (Timmy’s crew works hard!), but there’s NO requirement. If you feel they went above and beyond, by all means, show some love! If money is tight or you just weren't impressed, then don't worry about it.
My move date changed — what should I do?
Life happens, we get it. Just give us a shout as soon as you know. We’ll adjust plans, rebook crews, etc... Keep in mind: changing the date may affect pricing and availability (especially during holiday/busy seasons), but we’ll work with you to find the best solution NO MATTER WHAT.
Can you move bulky, heavy, or weirdly shaped items?
Yep, but details matter! If you have something super large, super fragile, or something out of the ordinary (grand piano? heavy safe? awkward antique?), let us know. We’ll assess whether we need special equipment. If we can handle it, we will. If not, we’ll tell you up front — no surprises.
I don’t have a perfect inventory of everything to be moved. Is that okay?
100%! Many people don’t. If you can, send as many details/photos as possible. If not, no stress! That's why we offer on-site estimates in Charleston and surrounding areas, so we can see for ourselves and give you a price you can trust.
Will you disassemble and reassemble furniture (beds, large shelves, etc.)?
Yes, we can handle disassembly and reassembly. If it’s part of your plan, we’ll include it in your quote. If you add it last-minute (Like the day of the move!), we’ll provide a on-site estimate for that, too. Our goal is to make the heavy lifting (literally and figuratively) your least concern.
Are there any hidden fees I should be worried about?
Nope — that’s one of Timmy’s biggest pet peeves. Timmy Hayes Moving believes in transparent pricing: what we quote is what you pay (barring any changes you request afterwards). If there are extra charges (like for specialty handling, added services, or something not in your estimate), we’ll always explain them clearly with an included price breakdown BEFORE you pay.
